A Chromebook is a laptop running Chrome OS as its operating system. The devices are designed to be used primarily while connected to the Internet, with most applications and data residing "in the cloud”.

The thing that makes Chrome OS different is that none of your applications are stored locally on your computer, although you can be “off line” and continue to work with these apps.  Once online again, your information will be synced with your account in the cloud.

App shortcuts are located in the App Tray (icon on the lower left).  App shortcuts can also be positioned on the lower portion of the screen, which is called the launcher.

Apps can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store.  The store also has Extensions, Themes.  A “search” edit box is available for key word searches.
